Biography of the Late Rev. Protopresbyter Gerasamos Gachumi Ngure

(1940 – June 2014)

The late Fr. Gerasamos was born in 1940 in the small village of Ngecha, Kiambu County, Kenya. He embraced the Orthodox Christian faith in 1952 and devoted his entire life to serving God's people.

Highlights of His Ministry

  • ✦ Ordained to the Holy Priesthood — February 14, 1971
  • ✦ 33 years of devoted ministry (1971-2004)
  • ✦ Founded numerous parishes across Kenya
  • ✦ Baptized hundreds of faithful
  • ✦ Founded a health center that serves the community to this day
  • ✦ Elevated to the rank of Protopresbyter

His Dream: To see a permanent building for St. Stephen Thingati Church — the church we support today.
